Worksoft Certify – Process Export and Version

Worksoft Certify - Process Export and Version

Worksoft certify has provided 2 very important features called “Process Export” and “Process Versioning “. Let’s try to understand the basic features of them and how they are different from each other.

Process Export:

This feature is provided to export multiple processes or a folder of processes including their dependencies like sub processes, layouts, record sets, variables, Application versions, objects actions everything will be placed into a Zip of JSON files and manifest. This option is used to create new projects or updating existing projects.

Below are the steps involved in ‘Process Export’:

Step 1 – Right click on process and select export process

Step 2 – Save the process to local or network drive.

Step 3 – Once we save the process, it will transfer all the steps, layouts, record sets and sub processes to the drive.

We also have an option to select any layouts, record sets only.

Record sets only

Once we complete the export, we can see the saved folder like below

Composed folder tools

Inside the folder we can see the JSON Files, layouts, record sets, variables.

This export option enables us to easily import these files to new projects. We can edit the process and merge into same project.

Process Version:

This option is used to create a copy of process steps in certify database. Here no dependencies are gathered. This feature is used to compare the versions of processes, delete, restore a process.

Below is the example of version creation and comparing

When we click on a process in summery pane, we can see the process details, steps etc in details pane. Here one of the options is ‘Version’.

Version creation and comparing

Once we select version tab, we can see the existing versions of the process.

This versions option will be helpful to compare the processes or restore the process.

For example, if we remove few steps or edit the process, then we can compare with newly created version.

Compare version to current

And it will navigate us to the window where the information stored in version and the process steps

version and the process steps

Here we can see the process steps with few deleted steps and version with all the steps.

This could be helpful to review the changes of the process before baselining them or moving to production copy.

If we want to restore the deleted steps, we can select “Restore the process” option

Skip Costly Rework with Dynamic Change Resiliency

Change resiliency is imperative in ever-evolving IT environments. Our patented object action framework streamlines change management by assigning object definitions to your shared assets. The same object may be used in a thousand automation steps, but it can be easily updated by making one simple change to the model definition. The change automatically propagates to every single instance where that object may have been used without a single line of code or manual human involvement. For more change readiness you can also engage our Impact Analysis for SAP to predict how changes in SAP transports will affect your business processes.

SOAIS Blog – Nuts and bolts of Certify Database Maintenance

One of the key thing, which is often missed by the organizations, who have invested in using Worksoft Certify for automating their Business Process Validation initiatives, is implementing a Database Maintenance Plan. While the business and the test automation consultants get excited about the shiny new thing that they have got and start building the regression suite; planning and executing a database maintenance plan for most of the customers gets pushed down the priority list. However, since all the test assets in Certify are stored in a Database, a robust database maintenance plan is very important to maintain smooth operation of Certify with acceptable performance criteria. The customers usually start facing issues once they have built significant number of Certify processes which they have started executing on regular basis. Such executions add a lot of data to the tables storing results data and increase the overall size of the Certify database.

Worksoft Blog – Process Intelligence: A Multi-Dimensional Approach

The ability to extract process knowledge has become easier through the years. Technology has evolved to the point where we can deploy capabilities that connect at multiple levels to extract different types of process insight. In the past, organizations were forced to spend enormous energy extracting data manually from different applications and databases. Then, they would have to use things like spreadsheets to transform the data and convert it into meaningful information.
