In Certify, there are three types of reports that you can generate based on your requirement.
- Summary: It contains an overview of the result with test steps without the screen captures and Recordset data.
- Detail: It contains the complete details of the result with test steps along with their screen captures and Recordset data.
- Recordset: It contains only the screen captures and Recordset data of the test steps.
As a business user, one can still use these reports to validate the test cases being automated. During the development of the Certify processes, the developers include proper Process descriptions, Comments, Screen Captures, Recordset data and follow naming conventions for naming the test assets as per best practices to make sure that the Business Users get an informative report of the process execution. Missing out these may not yield a good report.

What is Worksoft’s Business Process Procedure (BPP)?

a.k.a BPP is a standalone web-based reporting tool where business users can design templates and generate reports that are customized as per their requirements. These reports can be used for development, quality assurance, training and compliance, thereby helping businesses in providing a complete audit trail of the business process validation activities.
Advantages of Worksoft’s Business Process Procedure (BPP)
- Ability to generate reports in PDF, Microsoft® Word, HTML or XPS formats as per your requirement.
- You have the provision to customize and upload new report templates built with Microsoft Word using merge fields. This is useful when you want to use your Company’s Logo instead of default Worksoft branding. You can also add colors, designs, styles to specific sections/steps to change the look and feel of the reports. You can present data on the report based on logics and add extra information for training purposes. You cannot do any of these with Certify’s inbuilt reports.
- You can pull up results from many Certify projects and Certify databases in few clicks, which is otherwise a time-consuming process without BPP. This is an awesome feature when you are working on multiple Certify environments.
- Ability to automatically pick the latest result of a process for report generation. Without this feature, it can be time consuming to locate the recent result when you have multiple folder structures for your Certify results.
- You can email the BPP reports to many recipients. Certify’s inbuilt reports do not have this feature and can be complex to build a logic to achieve this without BPP.
- Ability to view the history of previously created reports and open/download them if needed. This is a nice feature if you had misplaced your reports and want to create another without re-executing your processes.
- BPP lets you create reports manually as well as automatically based on triggers. This is time saving when you want to generate reports after a regression cycle consisting of many test results, which otherwise can be a bit time consuming.
- You can easily locate your results/processes through BPP as it uses an ID criterion to pull these assets from Certify database and thereby reducing ambiguity for report creation.
